Well, before you were actually able to show mini-pets in town, people didn't have a clue of you having one either. And, as it has been stated before in this thread, you could simply have bought up your whole stock of mini-pets. I still think that mini-pets give an unfair "advantage" to people, since it's usually simply turned into gold.

Just think of the many people who bought the Collector's Edition of Nightfall, just so they could ask money for mini-Varesh (and ended up getting stuck with it, since so many other people had the same idea).

This is a personal birthday gift, so it shouldn't be something you'll be advertising for sale within minutes.

I know I'm starting to sound like a broken record (and you're of course entitled to think my idea is worthless), but to me, a customized weapon with my character's name on it is the greatest unique gift ArenaNet could give for my character's second birthday.

As for other people knowing about it, you can always ctrl-click.

The problem I have with the weapon idea is that it would be a great feature for weapon crafters, generally. I've crafted exactly 2 weapons across 9 characters in nearly 2 years. Crafters need to be made more interesting and this naming idea would be a good way to do it (better skins would help too, though).

There's also the point that a 2 yr old character may well be a character some still play all the time, but for me that's not so much the case - so he wouldn't get a huge amount of use out of a personal weapon. Frankly, he's also already got more bows than he should be lugging around.

I like the naming idea, but I do wonder if it shouldn't be added in a more accessable way.

Offer two-year-old characters a one-time* item "imbue", (comparable to what Charsi did in Diablo 2).

Basically, you take any equippable item that exists as a drop in the game (except perhaps Greens, since some have unique skins), you bring it to the imbuer and it is turned into a max damage, golden, req 9, inscribable customized to your character (even for off-hands, though there is no added benefit, of course).

A quick example: every Warrior loves Prophecies' Sickles, but they only exist in very low quantity and non-max versions (save for Victo's Battle Axe).

You happen to find a 5-10 one somewhere, you take it to the imbuer and tada! Perfect and customized to you alone.

(*) I guess you could be offered 2 imbues so you can have a one-hand and an off-hand, or two of each, or an one-hand and a two-handed, or two two-handeds, or whatever you like.
Best idea yet.

Couple that with a bloom effect for the imbued weapons (2 per char please as it's the 2nd b'day for a sword and shield) and you've got me drooling all over my keyboard right there.

No more minipets please, as much as I love them each character I have has got a minipet so I just want something different.

Please no more mini pets!!!!! They were ok for the 1st birthday and ok for giveaways + prizes etc, but we need somthing MORE IMAGINATIVE for 2nd birthday. I would agree to a title that when equiped toggles a boss aura around you depending on your profession. Only available in towns and outposts.

I sorta like the naming idea, but I don't like it for the following reasons:
  • Can't show off/display in town
  • Doesn't show off in missions besides CTRL+clicking (no visual effect, just the same skin as before)
  • Takes up inventory space

For example, my main char - a ranger - has 4 extra sets of armor (each for a different build/environment) and about 12 different weapons (for various builds and just to collect). That leaves me with about 7 - 10 free slots in my inventory. A disguise could, theoretically, be moved to storage before leaving town. With collector, green, and blue/purple/gold weapons to choose from, I don't particularly want yet another to lug around.

IMHO the current item customization ("customized for x x" in the description) would stand to benefit more from this idea -- i.e. any customized item getting the player's name on the front, such as raven214's Feathery Longbow, while something else more displayable would be fitting for our second birthday... such as disguises, halos, boss monster glows, age titles, more minipets if nothing else, or other ideas mentioned in this thread.

well, except the mini pets, we could get something which is more usable for our birthdays in GW. Since we give our personal time to play, spending so much at playing, we could get the different presents in various commodity, like 1 or 2 or maybe 5 ectos, obs shards. Maybe 100 tanned square hides. Some special object, weapon which will be instantly customized for our character...

I think it would be cool to get a quiver for you arrows as ranger, or a sword holder for you warrior in your favorite armour look because I hate it when my ranger is using 1000 arrows out of nowhere.:P

No more mini pets, thats fine for other times, but id like to see something diffrent for each birthday. Itng diffrent for the 2nd bday, I want something visable.

One of my earlier ideas was to have another slot on the inventory screen where you could put on event items and have them mask over the normal item. Like say being able to put on your yule hat while having your normal headgear on so you could still have the armor.

so really id like to see something visible to other players that you could shut on or off like the above idea, or maybe even a special aura, would be kinda cool to see your character with a boss aura thats based on what ever character class it is.

Default 2nd Birthday Ideas

Dear Gaile --

Pet collecting has been a very fun thing for many people, but is continually hampered by lack of storage space.

If there are more miniatures released, we beg of you guys to create a "pet cage" tab under the storage vault just for pets to be stored.

Honestly... for a 2nd birthday... we all seriously want more storage space... it is rather frustrating to have to divert to using non active characters for storage just to store many things we collect.

We need a shareable guild storage vault... buy able for about 50k maybe?

We need a pet storage spot ... aka the pet cage...

We need the ability to buy a 2nd and 3rd storage vault for about 50k maybe?

Holiday tokens, miniatures, holiday hats, holiday consumables, salvage goods, commendations, collector items, green items, stackable trinkets, multiple armor sets, more and more and more...

But no additional storage options...

3 things needed.. .drastically in GW.... More storage and global auction houses. And a player view before buying Armor feature (like dying). If we have to pay $20 for each of them... I would buy them right now...

Now if you seek minatures to this 2nd bday question... How about --

Faeries - They fly around you and have a nice light show trail...

Melandrus' Cat - A mini cat of the pet itself...

A Fire Drake - Since I love my Fire Elementalist...

A Floating Storm Eye - Floats and flies around...

A mini storage vault - Ode in travesty to the lack of additional needed storage
(Little storage vault hops around and drops coins around (not real ones though)

OK.. I have an idea.. I have not read through the 28 pages of posts here so I apologize if it was already mentioned, but can we have mounts?

Like horses we can ride in an explorable area? Maybe a really rare mount would be a flying dragon type? Now I know that the ability to map instantly to any city you have already been sort of negated the point for mounts in this game but.. i still think GW is missing mounts. Lots of other online games get them... star wars.. wow... I want em.

You could work out how they would work, I have faith in anet! Maybe they would move a little slower than sprinting.. (to keep runners from using them). something.. that would be ubber cool.

I do realize that this would probably take alot of time on the developers end as well as req a new build of GW. But it would make me very happy when I turn 2.

before anyone laughs at my suggestion, remember, its my birthday wish.

though Id like to add to my other post, If they end up just giving us minipets instead of doing something new, They need to be all cool highlevel creatures, that are exclusive to 2nd year. and they need to all be good, so that your 2nd year character isnt getting some lame minipet like devouerer, but instead like an Aatxe or some other UW/FoW creatures

No, no we cannot have mounts. Not only does map travel make them obsolete, but explorable areas weren't designed with mounts in mind. In a lot of areas, it would just be cramped, and the screen would be cluttered with big cumbersome mounts. And the fact that you use other games having them as a reason why we should is actually hurting your argument, rather than supporting it.

ok, I see your point about many maps not being able to support mounts. but I think it could be worked around, for example no maps in places like FoW, UW, SF. I don't believe that mounts would have to be huge. They could easily make a horse to where they can fit down tighter passage ways, besides if you couldn't ride a horse into a place, it would actually help with the argument that mounts are an unfair advantage to older players. For example, If there was a tight passage way between a low level town/outpost and a high level area, it would force plays to get off there mounts and have to hoof it on there own.

As far as the argument that we shouldn't have it because other games do is lame. I see people flaming the idea of multiple races of playable characters the same way, comparing it to wow, saying it would "ruin" the game. But step back, personally I don't think that to many other creature ideas look cool, so I would probably stay human, but if it makes some one happy to be an elf or a cat like creature (like in vangurd... blagh btw) then I want them to be able to have it.

How can any 1 see from a mini pet that my character is 2 years old?
I have at least 1 mini pet foreach of my 8 characters, I really do not need more, There is no use for them (they do look very cool) but come on we need something new.

And if Anet wants to give my character a cool mini pet, then it should be 1 that you only could get from your 2nd birthday gift!!!

Mini pet idea:
Glint
Seer
Smite

and a bit bigger then normal mini pet plz /sigh

EDIT:
A new idea:
hot/sexy/diffrent underwear ROFL, naked characters everywhere.

After some thought- How about a Special Birthday NPC that gives a special quest. Maybe call it- Mapping the Void. It can only be done once (maybe on your b-day you get a token in your inventory to activate it). The quest would transport you to one of the following locations randomly. One of the Elite Mission in Factions, Underworld, FOW, or one of the areas in the Domain of Anguish. All Areas are accessible. No monsters spawn and you have free run of the area. Your goal is to run around the area mapping it. 4-5 chests spawn in random locations and you can open them for free. You get a least one gold and a very good percent on the remainder of the chests to get gold as well. Happy B-Day!
